- Required: Shin guards (under socks), soccer cleats (no metal spikes or baseball cleats), water bottle.
- Weather: Dress in layers. Coaches may cancel for unsafe conditions.
👨👩👧👦 Sideline Guidelines
- Be positive. Cheer for all players.
- No coaching from the sidelines.
- Respect referees — especially youth refs. Encourage, don’t critique.
✋ Volunteer Expectations
AYSO is 100% volunteer-powered. We need you!
- Coach or Referee: Training provided. No experience needed.
- Team Roles: Team manager, snack coordinator, field setup — light work, big impact.
🧭 Code of Conduct
We uphold AYSO’s six core philosophies:
Everyone Plays | Balanced Teams | Open Registration | Positive Coaching | Good Sportsmanship | Player Development
- Treat all participants with respect.
- No bullying, harassment, or abuse.
- Zero tolerance for physical or verbal misconduct.
🛡️ Kids Zone Pledge
AYSO’s Kids Zone program creates a safe, fun, and supportive environment for every child. All parents and spectators are expected to follow this pledge:
- Kids are #1!
- Fun — not winning — is everything.
- Players play, fans cheer, coaches coach.
- Respect volunteer referees — we couldn’t do it without them!
- No yelling, swearing, or abusive behavior.
- No weapons, alcohol, tobacco, or drugs.
- Leave no trash behind.
- Celebrate the player — win or lose.
🚫 Referee Abuse Policy
AYSO has adopted the U.S. Soccer Referee Abuse Prevention Policy (RAP). This applies to all matches and all members of our soccer community.
- Non-physical abuse (e.g. yelling, intimidation, sarcasm) may result in a yellow card or dismissal.
- Physical abuse results in immediate send-off and disciplinary action.
- Referees may stop matches to address misconduct.
- All incidents are reported and tracked nationally.
❗ Zero Tolerance Policy
AYSO Region 158 enforces a Zero Tolerance Policy for negative behavior toward referees, coaches, players, and volunteers.
- No disputing calls during or after games.
- No sarcasm, intimidation, or sideline coaching.
- Youth referees are protected — any abuse will result in removal from the field.
- Referees may eject coaches/spectators without warning.
- Post-game confrontations are treated as send-offs and investigated.
- Repeat offenders may be suspended for the season.
